Drawing challenge: The unexpected

Eine Sammlung von alten gefundenen Dingen, haben sich zusammengefunden zu etwas “Unvorhergesehenem * Überraschendem”.

Ein seltsames Treffen in einer alten Schublade, die ich auf dem Sperrmüll gefunden habe:
Ein paar Apothekerflaschen, ein altes Buch, ein Krähenpärchen und ein Stück Holz vom Strand … jedes einzelne Stück hat bestimmt eine wunderbare Geschichte zu erzählen, aber zusammen sind sie ganz einfach überrascht voneinander.

A vintage collection “The Unexpected” …a strange meeting in a vintage drawer, which I found at the side of the street. Some medicine bottles, a vintage book , a crow couple and a piece of wood from the sea. Everything has its own story to tell, but everyone is surprised of each other.

Ein altes Buch mit dem wunderbaren Titel “Das Haus an der Karpfengasse.”, aus dem ich Kreise ausgeschnitten habe.

Glücksschachteln * Lucky boxes

Statt guter Vorsätze habe ich mir für dieses Jahr eins vorgenommen: „glücklich sein!“. Dabei möchte ich mich nicht auf die Suche nach dem Glück begeben, sondern jeden Moment genießen und nicht mehr versuchen die Vergangenheit ändern zu wollen und auch nicht sorgenvoll nach vorne zu schauen.

Instead of making good resolutions for the new year, I planned only one thing „to be happy“. Not to start searching for the luck, but also enjoying every single moment. To accept, that the present can’t be changed and try not to look anxiously in the future.

“Lucky!” – “Yes”

Nach der langen Blogpause, war es gar nicht so einfach wieder einen Anfang zu finden. Viele Ideen und Pläne schwirrten mir im Kopf herum, dann hat Erics Drawing Challenge „Matchbox“ hat mich inspiriert diese Glücksschachteln zu machen.

After a long blog break it was not easy to find a beginning. Lots of ideas and planns are going round in my head, it Eric’s drawing challenge „matchbox“ was a good inspiration.

Vielleicht werden mich diese Glücksschachteln dieses Jahr ja immer mal wieder daran erinnern, innezuhalten und das Glück zu genießen.

Perhaps these lucky boxes will remember me, to pause for a moment enjoying the luck.

Drawing Challenge: Fisch * fish

Die ganze Woche habe ich an Fische gedacht und schon überall Fische gesehen: in Blättern und allen möglichen Dingen. Vielleicht ist das der Grund, warum ich heute in Dada Stimmung bin. Da es von Wuppertal keine schönen Karten gibt, hatte ich die Idee, Fische und ein paar alte Karten von Anfang des 19. Jahrhunderts für neue Collagen zu nehmen.

The whole week I was thinking of fish…and I see fish everywhere…in leaves and all kind of other things. Perhaps of this today I am in the mood for some Dada collages…

Because the are not really nice postcards of Wuppertal, I thought to use fishes and some vintage postcards from the early 19th century.

Im Hintergrund das berühmte Wuppertaler Thalia Theater, zwischen 1906 und 1967 war es ein Unterhaltungstheater im Herzen Elberfelds. I finde es wäre eine tolle Idee ein Fischensemble zu haben…was meint ihr?

In the back you see the famous Thalia Theater. It was a entertainment theatre between 1906 bis 1967 in the city of Elberfeld.
Would be a wonderful entertainment with a fish dance ensemble, dont’ t you think?

Das hier ist das Island Ufer in Barmen – früher gab es hier sehr viel Garnindustrie und die meisten Firmen lagen direkt in der Nähe der Wupper…ein perfekter Spielplatz für Fische.

Here you can see the “Island Ufer” in Barmen – in history Wuppertal was very famous for the yarn industry and this was located directly at the river Wupper…guess the perfect playground for these fish visitors.

Dieses Wochenende sammelt Stefanie “Daily Projekte”.

Mein 365 Tage Postkartenprojekt “Papiergeschichten” ist inzwischen schon bei Karte 39 angelangt. Bis zum Ende des Jahres habe ich mir vorgenommen, 365 Postkarten ein neues Gesicht zu geben und dabei nur Schere, Klebstift und natürlich Papier in allen Formen zu verwenden.

Ein Papiergarten für die Hosentasche

Ein Buch wie ein (Papier) Garten … nach und nach fügten sich alle Fundstücke zu einer Collage zusammen, aber sie fühlte sich noch unvollendet an.

A book like a paper garden … by and by all findings found a place in the collage, but it is still unfinished.

Einer Collage auf einem Buchdeckel von 1937, der Buchbindung zum filigranen Untergrund und die Innenseiten zu poetischen Worten. Was findet noch Platz?

Drawing challenge fillip

Bis zu Stefanies Einladung zur ihrer drawing challenge “fillip” wußte ich gar nicht, das es die englische Übersetzung für Wörter wie Ansporn, Fingerschnalzer, Fingerschnipser und Nasenstüber ist.
“Nasenstüber” ist meine Lieblingsübersetzung und das habe ich mir für die Collage ausgesucht … und, was meint ihr, wird hier passieren?

Buchskulptur: Eine Entdeckungsreise…

…quer durch ein altes Buch. Wenn ich ein Buch mit einem schönen alten Cover oder irgendetwas besonderem finde, nehme ich es meistens mit und so habe ich inzwischen ein ganz schöne Sammlung davon. Einige habe ich zu Buchskulpturen gefaltet, einige sind zu Wandbildern geworden und jetzt wollte ich mal was Neues ausprobieren.

A discovery through a vintage book. When I see vintage books on a flea market with something special, I have to buy it. So up to now I have lots of them. Some of them I folded throught bookskulptures and some became pictures. Now I wanted something new.

Ich habe jede Menge Kreise ausgeschnitten und dabei all diese Wörter gefunden…
I cut out lots of circles and found all these words….(like spring, children, people, sun, moment, sun…)

Dazu angeregt hat mich das tolle Thema von Emilys drawing challenge “Entdeckung”
I was inspired by Emily’ s wonderful drawing challenge theme “discovery”

Drawing challenge: beads

Heute habe ich beim Aufräumen diese kleine Kiste gefüllt mit lauter kleinen bunten Stoffstücken, gefunden.
Today I found this little box with lots of little colourful pieces of fabric.

Wenn ich mich richtig erinnere, sind das die Ecken der ersten Kalender, die ich vor 4 Jahren gemacht habe. Weil sie so schön bunt und fröhlich waren, konnte ich sie einfach nicht wegschmeissen. Heute war ich eigentlich fest entschlossen, sie zu entsorgen, aber dann fiel mir Normas Thema “beads” für die Drawing challenge ein und hatte ich die Idee, das ich aus ihnen wunderbar “Beads” ausschneiden könnte. Daraus sind die beiden Collagen entstanden, die einen perfekten Kontrast zum Grau draußen bilden.

These were the edges, which I cut off when I made my first calendars 4 years ago. Because of the wonderful colours I picked them up. Today I was intended to dispose them, but then I remembered Normas thema “beads” for the drawing challenge and I had the idea to cut out beads of the little fabrics. I made these two collages out of the cuttings, which made a perfect contrast through the snow grey outside.

Drawing challenge: Krone / Crown

Stefanie hat mich diese Woche zur Drawing challenge mit dem Thema “Krone” eingeladen. Ich habe eine Pause beim Entrümpeln gemacht und dabei ist bei einem flüchtigen Gedanken an Max Ernst diese Dada Collage entstanden.

Norma called for ghosts this week…
I made this picture this morning and thought this is really a perfect ghost morning.

My daughter and me made our first Halloween decoration: the ghost garland, made out of vintage book pages. It is not perfect, butI think that makes it special.

The ghost in the back was me.

More leaves – noch mehr Blätter

I spent the week-end outside with all the leaves enjoying the sun.
Now finally my experiments with the paper leaves, as promised more leaves.

I found these leaves skeletons in the garden while weeting yesterday – a perfect background for the paper punch outs.
By the way in German we have the same word for leaves and sheets.
The background is a vintage book cover painted with my daughter’s watercolours.

When autumn starts I have to collect leaves – it is every year the same thing. I love their different forms and wonderful colours.To draw them, to dry them or just to arrange them somewhere.

Actually I planned to do some frottages today, is it fascinating how many different surfaces wood has?

Dies ist zwar noch kein richtiges Treibholz, aber das Meer hat sie schon ganz schön “bearbeitet”
This is not really driftwood, but the sea “works” a lot on them.

Fehmarn Katharinenhof

Hier seht ihr einen meiner liebsten Sammelorte…der Strand vom Katharinenhof auf Fehmarn. Besonders nach einem richtigen Sturm habe ich hier wundervolle Stücke gefunden.

This is one of my favourite collect places…the beach of Katharinenhof of the isles of Fehmarn. Especially after a storm you will find wonderful pieces.

This is a “thank you” for our little house spider, which catches all mosquitoes for us, as my daughter told me. I remered this when I saw Renildes drawing challenge theme “spider” for this week.
